Trinity Lutheran Church, often referred to as the Griswold church, of Rural Litchville, North Dakota, was formally organized in March of 1889 with 21 family units on the roll. In April of 1885, the interested pioneers made an agreement to purchase some land to be used for the church site and cemetery. In 1886, the first parsonage was built. At that time, the little band of Christians worshipped in the local rural schoolhouse, private homes, or the parsonage. In 1897, a church building was erected. Over the years, additions and improvements have been made but the original building is still their home of worship.
Rev. Otto Pett was the first resident pastor. He was followed by twenty more called, ordained pastors and a host of student pastors and supply pastors.
The Sunday School, Ladies' Organization and the Luther League have all been effective in the life of the congregation, promoting the love of God through Word, deed and music.
To date, the membership of Trinity Lutheran Church numbers 131 baptized, of whom 115 are confirmed, each looking forward to God, singing "ALL GLORY, PRAISE ADN HONOR, TO THEE REDEEMDER KING."
