Saint Mary's Church
The Catholic community at Knox had its first beginnings in 1913 when Father August Kern came to offer Mass in the hall over the Delameter Print Shop. But it wasn't until 1941 that St. Mary's church at Knox was assigned their first pastor, Father F. X. Miller.
A new brick church was built in 1954 and dedicated on June 23, 1955. Father Miller remained pastor of St. Mary's (at the same time also serving St. Ann's church at Fillmore) until October 1963, when Father Joseph Senger was appointed pastor. In 1941 about 45 families belonged to the parish; presently there are about 50 families.
In July 1971, Father Joseph Senger was appointed to St. Mary's Parish in Grand Forks, and the present pastor, Father Bernard Schneider came to Knox to serve St. Mary's, St. Ann's at Fillmore and St. William's at Maddock.
