St. Joseph's Church

St. Joseph's Parish was organized when Father Patrick Cassidy came as first resident priest in 1880. The first church building was completed and consecrated in 1881.
The present church was completed in 1904 while Father Daniel V. Collins was pastor. In September 1913, a parochial school was opened. The parish continued to be served by Benedictine priests until 1947 when St. Joseph's Parish was offered to the diocese of Bismarck.
When the parish first started it had 75 families. As the population of the area grew the need for a new parish grew also and in 1959 St. Joseph's Parish was divided to for Christ the King Parish. In 1978 the parish was again split to form Spirit of Life Parish. At the present time the parish consists of 1,275 households.
