The St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville, Minn. was formed by uniting two congregations, The First Congregational Church and St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church. Dec. 21, 1947, the first United Service of Worship was held. The United Church was formally organized Dec. 18, 1948, when the Plan of Union was adopted.
Following the Worship Service, Sunday April 23, 1950, the congregation gathered on the site of the new church and Groundbreaking Ceremonies were held. A joyous congregation gathered within the completed structure on Sunday, May 13, 1951, and participated in the Services of Dedication.
