The first Catholic church was built in Walhalla in 1845 by Father Bellcourt.
The stone foundation for the present church was constructed in 1904, and the building completed in 1906.
The parish was incorporated in 1908 by the Most Rev. John Shanley, Bishop of Fargo, with Rev. Paul Larochelle as pastor.
In 1936 the basement was completed full size for a parish hall, complete with kitchen.
In 1949, the church interior was redecorated with some paintings.
The Very Rev. Raoul Longpre has been pastor since 1927.
