75th Anniversary
Our Savior's Norwegian Lutheran Congregation installed its first pastor, Rev. Ulvilden September 3, 1916. Services were held in the old Mercer Schoolhouse until 1917, when the new school was completed. Rev. Ulvilden was a good singer and violinist and started a large chorus.
The congregation formed a parish with St. Olaf from 1928-52. St. Ansgar Danish congregation joined in 1928. Building of Our Savior's Church began in 1928 with completion in 1931 and dedication in June 1936.
From 1952-58 Our Savior's was part of the McClusky parish. Hope Lutheran (German) merged in 1957. Our Savior's and Zion then formed the Mercer Lutheran Parish of the ALC.
Zion merged into Our Savior's in 1976 and in 1983 the congregation again formed a parish with St. Olaf. On January 1, 1988, Our Savior's became a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
