Congregational Church
Alexandria, Minnesota The First Congregational Church was built in 1875 on the site, Seventh Avenue West and Elm Street. In 1893 this church was moved to Fourth and Irving and is now the Evangelical Free Lutheran Church. The second church which is the one pictured was built in 1893 during the pastorate of the Rev. George Soper. Cyrus Northrop, President of the University of Minnesota, delivered the dedicatory sermon on December 11, 1893. On February 11, 1936, this structure was destroyed by fire. Alexandria, Minnesota The First Congregational Church was built in 1875 on the site of the present Church, Seventh Avenue West and Elm Street. In 1893 this church was moved to Fourth and Irving and is now the Evangelical Free Lutheran Church. The second church was built in 1893. On February 11, 1936, this structure was destroyed by fire.
