North Prairie Lutheran Church, first known as the North Prairie Norwegian Lutheran Church, was built in 1896 and incorporated August 10, 1897. The first trustees were Thedore M. Thoreson, Anton Larson, and Jacob N. Sletmoen. It was these three that were to Bismarck to have the church incorporated.
The first baby baptized in the church was Mens Thoreson. The last service was held in 1953 and in 1954 the North Prairie Cemetery Association was formed. It was in the late 1960's that the church was torn down, and a monument erected in its remembrance.
