The North Immanuel congregation was organized in April of 1871 by Pastor Vetelson, who was unable to stay, so Pastor T. Rosholt was called as permanent Pastor in 1872. The first log church was built that same year. So many people came and settled in the area that the congregation was divided into South and North Immanuel and Hedemarken congregations. In 1875 they joined the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Also, in 1875 a group of people to the southeast we rereleased to form Ringsaker Congregation. Hedemarken was also released to join Hamar at Rothsay. In1881 a group to the northeast was released to form Grove Lake congregation. In 1889, 13 of 45 members left to form West North Immanuel, a member of Norwegian Lutheran Church, and Pastor Rosholt followed the minority.
In 1890 a new change was formed to include North Immanuel, Grove Lake and Pelican Valley, members of the United Lutheran Church. Reverend A. Meland was called to this parish in 1890 and he stayed until 1926.
In 1926 Pastor A. Egge came and the churches experienced spiritual unity and prosperity. In 1929 a basement was built which gave the church a beautiful church parlor. Pastor Egge resigned in 1932 and H. M. Thoreson served until Pastor R. G. Hovland came in 1933. Pastor Hovland was zealous servant, and the congregation enjoyed a season if refreshment under his teaching and preaching. In 1937 and 1938 while Rev, Stenson served as pastor, there was a realignment of the congregations and North Immanuel and Grove Lake became a single parish. Pelican Valley united with Ringsaker to form Trinity, and South Immanuel formed a parish with Bagstevold at Erhard, there was no permanent pastor until 1951 when N. K. Estrem came and served until 1956. Pastor Davig came in 1956 and in 1960 the Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Lutheran Church and United Evangelical Lutheran joined to form the A.L.C. of which North Immanuel and Grove Lake became a member. Other pastors who have served the congregation are Pastor Olsen, Paul Knutson, Craig Richter and Gary Boen, the present pastor.
