New Kessel Reformed Church

The New Kassel United Church of Christ is located ten miles north of Zeeland. Formerly the New Kassel Reformed Church, built in 1905 and incorporated in 1911, the people who applied for the incorporation were Andreas Perman, Wilhelm Hieb and Jacob Perman. The charter members were John Perman, Andreas Perman, Wilhelm Hieb, August Hieb, Christian ·Meidinger, Simon Schwindt, and Johann Meidinger. The first structure burned in March 1938. Another church was built that summer and dedicated that fall. It is the present church serving the present congregation. This congregation was affiliated with the St. John's Church of Zeeland until 1966, when Rev. Alvin J. Houoe, Wishek, North Dakota, started serving them. He is the present pastor. The former pastors serving this church are the same as those serving the Zeeland
charge, until 1966.
