McCabe Methodist Church
Bismarck, North Dakota
McCabe Methodist Church is not a monument to a fallen hero but a witness to a living Lord. Two Methodist evangelists held street meetings in Bismarck in 1873. The First Methodist Church was organized in 1878. (Incorporated June 21, 1979.) Two previous structures were built in 1880 and in 1906. The present edifice was consecrated on September 20, 1959. The Church has been renamed in honor of Bishop Charles C. McCabe who visited the Church 1898.
The nave is unique and simple. As one enters, the eye is immediately focused on the huge cross in the window. Out beyond the open-chancel window one can see the State Capitol and its beautiful ground. McCabe Methodist Church, since its inception, has stood as a symbol of a deeply committed life to a living Christ.
