Two homesteading families, arriving about the same time in Culbertson, MT and discovering that each was Brethren, began a house church meeting in 1907. On July 4, 1908, the Medicine Lake Church of the Brethren was organized with 15 charter members. The first permanent church was begun on its present site, 10 miles north of Froid, MT, in valley (Roosevelt) County, in 1914. In 1916, the name was changed to Grandview Church of the Brethren. Remodeling in the 1950's included a basement and culminated in a service of dedication on June 7, 1953. The loving concern of many pastors and lay persons, with the Lord's guidance, kept a ministry alive in the church and in the community. An initial association in 1970 with the American Baptists of McCabe grew into a united group named in 1980 the Big Sky Church: American Baptist/Church of the Brethren.
