On January 14, 1887, the Hallock Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized with 36 charter members. The name Evangelical Lutheran Fridhem Congregation was chosen. In the 1950's the name was changed to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The first church was built in 1888 for $1,500 with an addition added later making the total cost for the church building $2,500. The old church was razed on July 13, 1955.
The new church was built on the same site with groundbreaking on July 17, 1955, at the location of the alter of the new church. The cornerstone was laid on June 10, 1956. The cost of the new church was $269,849.66. Completed with furnishing the total cost was $304,396.25. The first service was held on October 4, 1956, in the new church.
