Forest River Community Church
The First Presbyterian Church, organized April 1879, held services in a log church and the school. The church, built in 1891 on the north end of the block east of Main Street, was razed November 1964. The Methodist Episcopal Church, organized August 1881, held services in a building on the north end of town. The church was built about 1892 at the south end of the named block, was razed March 1966. The two congregations adopted a Plan of Union October 1963 and in May 1964, organized the Forest River Community Church. The church constructed on the Methodist Church lot, first held service March 27, 1966, and was dedicated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
