50 years ago, the current Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, North Dakota, was built by the hands of our fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers. This church joined together Emmanuel, St. James, and Neudorf Lutheran Churches. Together we became one in mission. "God's work. Our hands."

St. James Lutheran Church was dedicated in 1902, and members transferred to Emmanuel in September of 1956.

Neudorf Lutheran Church was dedicated on September 20, 1903, and members merged with Emmanuel to worship together on August 6, 1961.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church first began in 1915, with seven families worshipping in an old schoolhouse. From 1935 to 1961 services were held in the remodeled Baptist Church. On May 29, 1960, ground was broken at the current location. On August 13, 1961, the cornerstone was laid. On October 8, 1961, the current building was dedicated. Now on October 9, 2011, we celebrate 50 years of God's work. Our hands."
