BOWMAN LUTHERAN CHURCH
Establishment of the Lutheran Church came early in the history of Bowman County. The first Lutheran work was done in 1906 by Pastor Hesteness, who held services in the homes of the early settlers. In 1907, Rev. J. M. Buckneberg came and carried on home Missionary work throughout this area. In 1908, under the leadership of Rev. E. S. Eidesvik, the Bowman Congregation was organized. The first Lutheran Church was built in 1909. This church was used until 1971 when a new church was planned. Bowman Lutheran began its life in the new church with Rev. Jerry Erickson as pastor. In 1974, Pastor Dick Broen was called to work with Rev. Erickson. He continued in this position until March 1976, when 16 he resigned to accept another ca l l. In April 1977, Galen Strand was called to co-pastor the church. Pastor was installed on the first Sunday of July 1977. The new building presented new challenges on how the congregation can be of service as the community of Bowman grows. The exploration is continually carried out as the history of the Bowman Lutheran Church is written.
