Bethel Evangelical Lutheran
The Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized June 30, 1896, by Pastor Andreansen. The charter members were Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Broe, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Berve, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Sauer, Mr. and Mrs. Osmund Eilertson, Mr. and Mrs. Torger Hauge, Mr. Ole Rostvedt, Gust Rostvedt, Mrs. Sophie Tostvedt, and Miss Serene Rostvedt.
The first business meeting was held at the home of Ole Rostvedt on October 17, 1896, at which time the following officers were elected: President, O. Eilertson, Secretary - Treasurer, Ole Sauer, Trustees, T. Hauge, S. L. Broe, and O. Rostvedt, Kirkesanger, O. Eilertson. A letter of call was sent to Pastor Andreansen, and the location for a church was discussed.
A church was built in 1898, and Pastor J. J, Loftaas was called. This same year the congregation decided to affiliate with the Hauge Synod and its constitution was adopted.
In 1915 a new church was built on the same location as the old one, and the church was dedicated on July 16, 1916.
The following pastors have served the Bethel Congregation: Rev. Andreansen, 1896-1897; Rev. J. J. Loftaas, 1897-1905; Rev. Hovland, 1905-1918, Rev. T. J. Lund, 1918-1940; Rev. G. 0. Gronseth, 1941- 1948; Rev. Marvin Odland, 1949-1953; Rev. Edson Hartje, 1953-1960; K. Roger Johnson, 1961-1966
