The Berwick Lutheran Church was organized in 1887 by Rev. J.U. Pederson who came from Minot to conduct services in the settler's homes. In 1901, under the guidance of Rev. Olaf Rossing who walked from Towner to conduct services, plans were made to build the church. In 1904 Rev. Rossing's salary was raised to $70.00 per year.
