The Ambrose Lutheran Church was organized in 1905. As with many early churches, the first services were held in homes of the members. The first pastor was Rev. R.O. Hjelmeland who served as a mission pastor.
Charter members were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ebbeson, Ole Sims, Sven Susag, Olaus Ryan, Andreas Ryan, Hellick Haugland, Oscar Storheim, Mr. Hans Haugland, Andreas Alfson, Ole Henning and Halvor Rue.
Pastors who later served the congregation were: O. B. Sanders, Cornelius Sumstad at which time. 1914-1916 the present building was erected, George K. Thompson, R. O. Stoeve, J. W. Rosholt, Christopher Hoversten, O. J. Akre, T. S. Severtson, C. J. Dalseide, S. O. Kvaale, K. Roger Johnson, James Stenslie, and Gary Knabe, the present pastor.
The organizations still active branching from the church are the A. L. C. W., Luther League, Sunday School and Bible School held each summer.
AMBROSE LUTHERAN LADIES AID
The Ambrose Lutheran Ladies Aid held it's first meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ryan. At this meeting they organized and decided to serve lunch and charge 10c a piece. In the fall they took in more members making a total of 22. The aim of the aid was to work for the building of a church. At these meetings the ladies worked on various articles to be later sold. In December 1907 a basket social was held and $47.25 was taken in. In December 1908 the first supper and sale were held in Miller's Hall when $146.40 was realized. When the church was built the Ladies Aid turned over a considerable amount of cash.
The Ladies Aid continued to serve suppers and lunches and until recent years have held a fancy work sale in connection with an annual lutefisk supper. In later years when times became more prosperous both were discontinued. However, the ladies still serve food for wedding receptions, local auction sales and church functions, when necessary, which supplies the income to carry on their work.
The organization name was changed to (W. M. F.) Women’s Mission Federation but since the church merger (A. L. C. W.) American Lutheran Church Women.
At present they hold a business meeting and Bible Study once a month, held in the church building.
