The Stuart Air Show is this weekend, and we are kicking off this monumental show with a surprise guest! This year, in addition to assembling an exceptional group of aerial performers, we have an exciting addition to our lineup of military jets: the F-22 Raptor Demo Team. Popular with our spectators last year, the F-22 is back to blast through our South Florida skies.
The F-22 Raptor is the Air Force's premier 5th generation fighter aircraft. Its combination of stealth, supercruise, extreme maneuverability, and integrated avionics represents an exponential leap in warfighting capabilities. The Raptor performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions that are vital to the 21st century Air Force. The F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team performs precision aerial maneuvers at airshows across the world to demonstrate the unique capabilities of this fighter aircraft.
Among our distinguished performer line up are two other military jets: the F-16 Demo Team (“Viper”), and the A-10C Thunderbolt II (“The Warthog”). For the first time ever at the show, the East Coast C-17 Demo Team will perform in front of the crowd. A high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed military transport aircraft, the multi-service C-17 can carry large equipment, supplies and troops directly to small airfields in harsh terrain anywhere in the world. In addition, for the first time in North America, Red Bull Pilot Aaron Fitzgerald will do barrel loops and fly inverted in a BO105 C Helicopter. A full list of performers is available on our website: stuartairshow.com/performers.
This weekend, it is our pleasure to honor the memory and work of Dr. Joseph Masessa. Dr. Masessa was a well-known, well-respected member of the Martin County and aviation communities. On November 1, 2019 Dr. Masessa had his final flight at the Stuart Air Show practice show. We will always remember his contagious joyful spirit and the support of his family. Dr. Masessa was working on restoring the very BAC 167 Strikemaster that will perform at the 2021 Stuart Air Show. On Sunday, November 14th the Stuart Air Show will be dedicating our “missing man formation” to Dr. Masessa.
