BETHEL CONGREGATION
Originally, this Congregation, organized in 1905, was known as the Grong Congregation. The first officers were M. Walstad, Sec; E. U. Strand, Treas.; Trustees: N. Hanson, L. Dahl, A. Ronglie; Deacons; O. N. Jodock, M. Walstad, N. Loventson and E. Strand. The Ladies' Aid was organized the first year. In 1906, Rev. Holen visited the congregation, and at his suggestion, the congregation was divided into the East and West Grong churches. In 1907 it was decided to change the name to Ibestad Congregation. The Vang Congregation was organized in 1911, also a Ladies' Aid. The Vang and Ibestad Churches were consolidated in 1914.
Prior to 1914 schoolhouses had been used as places of worship but it was decided to build a church and the
cornerstone was laid in July 1915. The church had by now been named Bethel Church. The donation of land for
the church site and the cemetery were made by Mrs. Christopherson and N. E. Vestre. Since 1946 Bethel has
been a member of the Wildrose Parish and is now served by Rev. J. Lingen.
